PerthPerth sits on the banks of the Swan river and features some of the world's best beaches, plenty of nightlife, bustling markets, inner city parks, outdoor dining and amazing marine adventures. Not to be missed is an afternoon at Cottesloe beach. Between the City of Perth and The University of Western Australia is Kings Park, which features 400 hectares of natural bushland, including stunning views of Perth and the Swan river, scenic walks and bike rides. At the mouth of the Swan river is Fremantle, a port city including some of Perth's oldest heritage buildings. A visit to Fremantle can include amazing food, including fresh seafood and the 'cappuccino strip'.Around PerthA short ferry boat ride (~30 minutes) away from Perth is Rottnest Island. "Rotto" has some of the West's best snorkelling, diving, surfing, swimming and sunbathing, as well as bike riding and the no-where-else-in-the world mischievous marsupials that live on Rottnest, the quokkas.About an hours drive out of Perth to the east is the Swan Valley. There are a number of excellent wineries to visit, as well as art studios, river cruises, horseback riding, as well as magnificent food and wine experiences. The Sandalford winery, Swan Valley Cheese Factory, and The Chocolate Factory are highlights. An hours drive south of Perth is Mandurah, a relaxing get-away from the city. Here you will find beaches, and plenty of fishing. For a longer get-away try Margaret River. About four hours south of Perth, Margaret River is home to some of Australias best wineries, and breaks for the surfers. Nearby attractions include Busselton and Walpole, which is the home of the Valley of the Giants, a forest of tall old wood forest and a tree-top walk. If you are adventurous, swimming with whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef north of Perth is one of Australia’s must-do travel experiences.
